Block 100 Foundation Project

What is It?

The Block 100 Foundation Project is a proposed project for the 100 block of State Street and blocks of N. Fairchild/W. Mifflin Streets. The project was put on hold in March 2012 with revised project plans being introduced in June 2012. To read a City of Madison press release about the continuation of the project, click here. A fall 2012 construction start is anticipated with completion expected for spring of 2014.

Why is it Important?

This project will preserve and enhance the 100 Block of State Street that will give the properties another 100 years of life. The Fairchild/Mifflin area will also be transformed into an attractive urban environment for residents & visitors with the new Central Library and the future expansion of the State Historical Museum—all of which will bring life to the outer ring of the Capitol Square.

What is DMI's Role?

In September of 2011 the DMI Board of Directors voted to support the Block 100 Foundation Project. To view the DMI Board’s position, click here. DMI will continue to advocate in support of the project as it is brought before various City of Madison Boards and Commissions.
