Candidate Endorsements
The DMI Board of Directors first endorsed candidates in the contested City of Madison Aldermanic races back in 2005. These endorsements signified the importance the City of Madison elections play within the entire downtown Madison community and the impact the policies and vision of our local elected officials have on the continued economic prosperity of downtown.
For the 2011 elections, the following slate of candidate endorsements was approved by the DMI Board of Directors at a special meeting held on March 8th, 2011. In all races the DMI Board only made an endorsement if there was a super majority in favor of that position. DMI did not endorse in races where the incumbent is running unopposed. We encourage you to use this slate as a guideline for supporting candidates in the City of Madison election on Tuesday, April 5th, 2011. To determine your district and current alder click here. Please keep in mind that DMI works very closely with all twenty Alders and the Mayor and we look to them to support policies that invest in the health and vitality of downtown Madison.

What is important at this time (for all of the candidates) is financial support. We encourage you to write a check to the candidate of your choice. You can send contributions directly to the candidate or to DMI (122 W. Washington Ave., Suite 250, Madison, WI 53703) and we will send it to them. Please make checks out to the candidate's campaign name (Friends of...). The DMI Board asks that you give special consideration to supporting the DMI-endorsed candidates.
