SVA hosted three ShredFest events in Madison, Brookfield, and Appleton, Wisconsin. These events were held on April 25 in Madison and on May 2 in Brookfield and Appleton. In total for all three shredding events, more than 2,440 cars participated and 87,620 pounds of personal documents were shredded. Not only are these events helping curb identity theft but the material collected is recycled so they a€™re keeping 44 tons of paper material out of landfills. "We were excited to provide this complimentary shredding event to our clients and the community,"€ stated Carl Schultz, President & CEO.

The Madison chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, NARI, will present its 18th NARI REMODELED HOMES TOUR on Sunday, May 31st. Fourteen Madison area homes throughout the city will highlight additions, kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms, bedroom, basement and whole home remodels and more to showcase the craftsmanship of local NARI remodeling contractors. Homes in the NARI REMODELED HOMES TOUR will be open Sunday, May 31st from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A $10 ticket will allow entry for a family into all of the homes on the Tour. Tickets for the tour may be purchased at any one of the Tour site locations the day of the event. The locations are available online here and in the Wisconsin State Journal the week prior to the Tour. Included in the admission is a Tour Guidebook with pictures, highlights, and directions to each home and NARI’s Home Remodeling Directory. The Tour is sponsored by Madison Gas and Electric (Gold), Grand Appliance and TV (Silver), Wisconsin State Journal (Silver).

The 36th annual Isthmus Paddle & Portage returns Friday/Saturday, July 17-18, 2015 at Olin Park. This year, Paddle & Portage has merged with the Midwest Standup Paddle Festival to bring an entire weekend of crazy-fun paddling to Madison. Saturday’s race begins at James Madison Park with a 1.5-mile paddle on Lake Mendota, followed by a 1-mile portage around the Capitol past the Dane County Farmers' Market, before heading to Monona Terrace and the final 1.5-mile paddle across Lake Monona and the finish line at Olin Park. Racers and spectators are invited to the post-race party at Olin Park for live music from Natty Nation, food, craft brews and the 2015 Paddle & Portage awards ceremony. Paddlers are encouraged to get all decked out for our annual Paddle & Portage costume contest. "Like" their Facebook page for prize updates and announcements as the race draws nearer. Joining such esteemed institutions as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Phillips Collection, and the Denver Art Museum, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) is being recognized nationally for innovation in their education program, specifically the Art on Tour program. MMoCA is among just 16 museums included in an exhibition in Washington DC honoring innovators in educational programming. The MMoCA curator of education, Sheri Castlenuovo will travel to DC for the exhibition opening and presentation.
