Susan G. Komen for the Cure® South Central Wisconsin Affiliate has named SVA'€™s Kirsten Houghton as Treasurer of its board of directors. "€œI am honored to be asked to serve in a leadership role for this great organization,€ states Houghton. "Komen provides a valuable service towards the fight against breast cancer and I look forward to the opportunity to make a significant contribution towards that fight as well."€ Kirsten Houghton is Principal and head of SVA's Nonprofit Services Group. She works with a variety of nonprofit organizations including charitable, membership, trade associations and those organizations receiving federal and state funding.

STUDENTS INVITED TO APPLY FOR SUMMIT CREDIT UNION CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS Three $1,500 tuition scholarships available for high school, college students MADISON, Wis. High school and college students are invited to apply for Summit Credit Union'™s continuing education scholarships. The three $1,500 tuition scholarships will be awarded this April. To apply for the Summit Board of Directors scholarships, students must: • Be members of Summit for one year or more as of Jan. 1, 2015 • Provide a transcript for the December 2014 semester and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher • Complete an application and explain in an essay how a credit union'™s cooperative structure benefits its members and the communities it serves Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on grade point averages, extracurricular and community activities, employment experience and the essay. Applications must be completed by Feb. 28, 2015. Students should visit: here to review the full eligibility requirements and complete the application. Applications will be reviewed in March and applicants will be notified of the status of their nomination by phone or mail in April. Winners will be honored at Summit'™s Member Fest on Sun., May 31, 2015, in Madison. Over the past 13 years, Summit has helped 39 area students pursue quality higher education. The Board of Director Scholarship program supports Summit'™s ongoing educational outreach efforts and its commitment to the communities it serves.

The City of Madison Parking Utility will be holding a public meeting to explore the potential for expanding car-sharing in Madison. Representatives from car-sharing companies will make short presentations, with a question and answer session to follow. The meeting will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Room 260 of the Madison Municipal Building, 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Madison, WI 53703. The Wisconsin Law Journal named Axley Attorney Buck Sweeney a 2015 Leader in the Law, an award noting his exceptional leadership abilities, knack for legal marketing, career achievements, and involvement in the communities he serves. Summit Credit Union was recently awarded the prestigious Cooperative Builder Award, as well as the international TOP COOP Award of Merit. Kim Sponem, CEO/president of Summit Credit Union was one of four recipients of the Cooperative Builder Award on Nov. 18 at the Cooperative Network'™s annual meeting in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Summit Credit Union was also awarded the TOP COOP Award of Merit in the category of Involvement and Mobilization as part of the second annual International Summit of Cooperatives held in Canada. The fourth annual Co-op Connection, held Oct. 4, drew a crowd of nearly 3,000 people.

Community Shares of Wisconsin announces staff changes in 2014: Cheri Dubiel Buckner has rejoined the staff as Associate Director after stints with Madison Children's Museum and the YMCA of Dane County. Debby Meyer joins the staff as the Interim Development Director, after working for two Community Shares member groups, Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, and the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired.
