"Hops for Heartland"€ was the beverage stand slogan for Wegner CPAs at this year's Taste of Madison. Staff members and friends volunteered at a stand on Saturday, August 30 raising over $1,300 for local nonprofit, Heartland Farm Sanctuary. Heartland Farm Sanctuary is dedicated to helping homeless farm animals in Wisconsin, and building connections between animals and vulnerable youth. The firm ran a "€œShare Your Story"€ competition asking nonprofits about their mission and what they would do with some extra cash. 38 deserving organizations entered the competition. Heartland Farm Sanctuary was chosen as the lucky winner receiving over one third of the votes from Wegner CPAs'€™ staff!

A Holiday Gift Drive for Teens, supported by downtown merchants, to benefit United Way of Dane County, is helping bring holiday cheer to teens of families in need. It's easy to give. While shopping downtown anytime from Nov. 28 through Dec. 29, pick up a Gift Drive Item, and drop off your donation at one of five downtown locations for United Way to distribute. The Wisconsin Law Journal named Axley legal assistant Jean Karls and librarian Jane Crandall Unsung Heroes in its 2014 installment of the award, which recognized 24 law firm staff members throughout the state for their behind-the-scenes efforts and steadfast dedication to the legal profession. Earning the title, "Legal Assistant of the Year," Karls devotes most of her time at Axley to assisting attorneys with labor and employment matters across the full case continuum. Crandall, who earned the title, "œLaw Librarian of the Year," provides extensive legal research and paralegal assistance to Axley attorneys view the full news release here.

Wegner CPAs is pleased to announce the return of Erica Hendricks to our firm. Erica was previously employed at Wegner CPAs from 1999-2004 as a Senior Accountant and for the past seven years has been returning as a seasonal Tax Preparer. We're excited to have Erica rejoin the firm as a Manager in the Assurance Department. She is well-versed in the areas of assurance and tax and will oversee our religious organization practice. Erica is passionate about helping churches and has done consulting work for various religious organizations for the past several years. We'€™re happy that she will be bringing her expertise to Wegner CPAs!

Andrew Klein has joined the professional staff of MassMutual Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin, a general agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). Andrew will fill the position of Insurance Professional for the agency. As an insurance professional at MassMutual Wisconsin, Andrew is responsible for helping individuals, families and business owners meet their financial goals, estate strategies and insurance needs. With a true passion for helping people, Andrew is excited to be a part of the MassMutual team. His business is built on the strong foundation of building long-term relationships with clients while helping them reach their financial goals and objectives. He enjoys the communication he has with clients as he understands their individual situation in order to analyze and implement the best strategy possible. When working with a client, Andrew works to gain their trust and confidence as he recognizes these are important attributes that clients seek in a representative. Graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse, Andrew holds a degree in physical education, health and coaching.
